As a spoken word artist; Shawn has been blessed to tour & open for Grammy Award winner Jill Scott, featured on Verses and Flow, The Essence Festival, The Arsenio Show, The ESPY’s, Radio City Music Hall & The Apollo.

​Working with multiple chapters of the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative & Patelco Credit Union; Shawn has facilitated creative workshops, featured on panels, and volunteered in neighborhood outreach programs at prestigious Universities and Colleges such as Howard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, NYU & Morehouse.

In 2021 Shawn was one of five spoken word artist selected to a residency at the legendary Kennedy Center in Washington, DC & in 2023 Nominated for “Best Spoken Word & Poetry Album” at the 2024 Grammys with world renown artist Prentice Powell.
